The Ghanaian artist and figural coffin and palanquin maker Kudjoe Affutu (*1985) works since 2007 in his own carpentry shop in the Central Region, Ghana.
In collaboration with Regula Tschumi, he participated in several international group exhibitions: in 2010 in “La carte d'après nature” curated by the German artist Thomas Demand at the Nouveau Musée National Monaco and in New York; 2011
Affutu’s “hummer-coffin” was shown in “Car fetish. I drive, therefore I am” at the Tinguely Museum in Basel; in 2012, his “telephone-coffin” was shown in “Hors-champs” at the Musée d'ethnographie Neuchâtel. The artist was also involved in collaborations with the French artist Saâdane Afif and Regula Tschumi with his “Pompidou-coffin” in “Anthologie de l'humor noir” at the Centre Pompidou in Paris 2010 and at the Museum für Moderne Kunst
(Zollamt) Frankfurt 2012.
